childhood sexual abuse :: hush little baby don’t say a word.

Standard

“I’m a bad man and I’m not ashamed of it,
I’m a bad man, I don’t need no love.” R Kelly

I recently read about the allegations of sexual assault against R Kelly. I spent the better part of my evening reading articles, blog posts and interviews and by the end of it I felt sick, sad and angry. Mostly angry,

> because the alleged victims of the abuse were children

> because in spite of the allegations that multiple children had been victims, the adults were unwilling to speak out.

I wrote a short post at Mukoko asking why we choose to keep mum about sexual abuse. How can we be so silent about something so prevalent?

Don’t be silent.
