Looking back 2012: 10 things I am especially grateful for

Standard

Happy new year!

Got this idea from a tweet by John Piper and thought it was excellent.

Yesterday my family shared what each of them were grateful for in 2012 and it was amazing to look back and see what God has done.

Thought I should share my list with you:

1. My family
As a family, we have had both a wonderful and challenging year. As a student studying in a foreign country I am fully dependent on my mom, dad and sister for financial support and this year I was floored by their sacrifices on my behalf. The economic situation is still bad but there never was a day that I went without food; and my fees were fully paid.

My family are also my favorite people in the world! I am grateful for their friendship, craziness, prayers and spiritual support.

2. Our car
It is the little things that make a difference!

3.My church- His People Church Grahamstown
This church is made up of some of the most amazing people I have ever met! This year marked a transition for me and I feel like it has been the culmination of 3 years of getting Jesus’s heart for the Church. More on this in the course of this year!

4. Ginger
Ginger is my pet cat. I did not name her, a neighbor did. My sister was something between shocked and bemused that Ginger made my list. Ginger is special- another little thing making a difference!

5. Provision
Food, money, health, clothes. I am still alive!

6. My degree
I learned so many lessons from getting my first degree,a Bachelor of Arts. And looking back, I am so grateful that I got my degree within 3 years and did it well. I am a legit graduate!

7. Our amazing family holidays.
We had an amazing 4 family holidays in the last 12 months (including short local ones). I had so much fun with my mom and Shona Tiger and tasted the sweet taste of God’s extravagance over us. Ah, the memories!

8. Friends who love me as I am.
One of my biggest challenges is being myself. I like to perform for acceptance. And I learned that I do not have to. This year I moved out of campus residence into a house with 5 other people. It was wonderful, frustrating, sweet and bitter. I loved it and went to bed really not liking people. But I am so thankful for the opportunity to live with 5 amazing Jesus people that I love so much! And I found people who loved me even when I had morning hair and mood swings. And the value of forgiveness, fun and general ridiculousness!

9. The Internet
I seriously love the internet and do not know what life would be without it!

10. Wildcard.
Psy: Do I really have to say more?
Diddle Daddles.
Recyclable toothpicks.

That is my list, now I’d love to hear from you. What have you been especially grateful for?

What are your thoughts?
